Mikel Rouse to Appear at Numero Pop-Up in NYC on August 8

Mikel Rouse will make a special in-store appearance at the NYC Numero Pop-Up Store on Saturday, August 8 at 2 PM, located at 186 Front Street. The event celebrates Numero Group’s reissue of Story Of The Year, the influential 1983 album by experimental post-punk outfit Tirez Tirez. Rouse, a founding member of the band and a pioneering composer, will be on hand to meet fans and discuss the legacy of the record.

Originally released in 1983, Story Of The Year stands as a forward-thinking blend of minimalism, new wave, and art-pop, earning renewed attention through this carefully curated re-release. The in-store appearance offers a rare opportunity to connect with Rouse and revisit a pivotal moment in downtown New York’s musical history in an intimate setting.

The Numero Group’s NYC pop-up is a summer residency at 186 Front Street in Lower Manhattan’s Seaport District, open through Labor Day 2026. It functions as a temporary record shop with the label’s own catalog, including LPs, CDs, cassettes, merch, and occasional events like concerts.

It’s part of the Downtown Alliance’s RE:Store program, which is activating vacant storefronts downtown for the summer. The shop is open Wednesday through Sunday, with hours varying by day.
